Theriogenology Foundation - Student Externship Grant

The Theriogenology Foundation will receive and review requests for funding of veterinary student externship grant proposals. The funding is intended to support experiential educational advancement of students interested in Theriogenology. Furthermore, primary consideration will be given to funding requests which provide an educational experience in theriogenology that is beyond the scope of the basic curriculum. The Theriogenology Foundation may consider all or partial funding of a request based on the annual budget and the merit of the educational experience to students. Preference will be given to applicants applying for externships with either ACT or SFT members.  
The request for funding student externship grants should include the following:
  • a faculty member should sign the request or send a letter of support
  • must be for the sole benefit of students in a Professional Veterinary training program
  • must be specific to the study of Theriogenology
  • the specific institution or practice must be listed along with a primary contact person who will supervise the externship
  • copy of a letter from the externship mentor verifying their support of the extern
  • information regarding the student's SFT student chapter membership status
  • a cover letter describing:
    • · the anticipated educational merit of the externship experience
    • · a description of species and genders of species expected to be seen in a clinical setting
    • · a list of expected theriogenological procedures and techniques that the extern will be exposed to
    • · a statement listing the length of the experience
    • · a budget

The successful applicants are expected to provide a written report summarizing their externship experience to the Theriogenology Foundation Board within 30 days of completing their externship. Please provide photos and a video clip if possible along with your report.
